The AI Whistleblower Initiative (AIWI) conducts research and policy work, educates and supports frontier AI employees directly through connections to a vetted network of attorneys and access to grant funding.
Who we are
Founded in early 2024 by Karl Koch and Maximilian Nebl, former tech entrepreneurs with a background in AI safety and open-source development, the AI Whistleblower Initiative (AIWI) exists to support individuals working at the frontier of AI who wish to flag risks safely and legally. For the sake of those individuals, and because we want to see incentives shift towards consistently responsible development of AI.
We support individuals and organisations who share these values.
AIWI is currently an independent non-profit project hosted by Whistleblower Netzwerk e.V., one of the oldest whistleblower support non-profits globally and a member of the Whistleblower International Network (WIN).
